Call for Artists | February 8 – March 28, 2027

Presented by Baker Arts Center & St. Andrew's Episcopal Church

Baker Arts Center and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church invite artists to participate in Miracles of Christ, a collaborative exhibition exploring the 37 miracles of Jesus through contemporary art.

Artists are invited to create an original work inspired by one of the miracles recorded in Scripture. Through painting, sculpture, ceramics, fiber arts, woodworking, mixed media, and more, this exhibition will bring together unique artistic interpretations of these timeless stories.

We encourage artists to consider how they might tell these stories today, exploring their own emotional, intellectual, or spiritual response through their chosen medium.

Important Dates

  • November 16, 2026: Artist application deadline

  • November 30, 2026: Miracle assignments announced by this date

  • January 8, 2027: Artwork photograph due for exhibition catalogue

  • Early February: Completed artwork delivered to Baker Arts Center

  • February 8, 2027: Opening reception

  • February 8 – March 28, 2027: Exhibition on display

Artist Guidelines

Each selected artist will be assigned one of the 37 miracles of Christ to interpret through an original work of visual art.

Artists may work in a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery, welding, woodworking, quilting, crochet, and more.

Artwork & Written Reflection

In addition to their completed artwork, participating artists must provide:

  • A written reflection explaining their emotional, intellectual, or spiritual response to the assigned Scripture and how it inspired their artwork.

  • A short artist biography.

  • The artwork's title (if applicable), medium, and dimensions.

  • A photograph of the artwork for the printed exhibition catalogue.

The written reflection is an important part of the exhibition. Rather than a traditional artist statement, it should share the personal response and creative process behind the work.

Additional Information

Artwork should be appropriate for a public gallery welcoming visitors of all ages. The organizers reserve the right to decline submissions.

Artwork will be returned following the exhibition unless other arrangements have been made.

Artists are encouraged to attend the opening reception on Monday, February 8, held in conjunction with the Pancake Day Grand Marshal Reception.
